Escama - About Us

Escama - About Us
ESCAMA – fish scales in Portuguese – is a partnership between Escama and two women’s cooperatives, Cia do Lacre and 100 Dimensão, located in Brasília, Brazil. ESCAMA, based in San Francisco, leads product development, sales and marketing, while Cia do Lacre and 100 Dimensão carry out all aspects of production. We are Brazilians and Americans of diverse backgrounds but together we have found an outlet for our creativity. We are proud that our bags are made by hand and not by machine, that they're made of recycled aluminum and not leather and plastic, and that our endeavors are positively impacting the economically depressed communities where the bags are made..

Studio Ditte

Studio Ditte: "Studio Ditte is a young design agency specialized in product design. Studio Ditte is curious, enthusiatic and down to earth. Our work is ourwardly focussed and not based upon ponderous design trends and movements but on users' daily lives. Every product tells a story. In our design we look for the balance between functionality and design. Together with clients, we create a concept and develop it to a manufacturable product.
Besides the design project for our clients, we have our own product collection. Under the Studio Ditte label, products such as furniture, pillows and jewelry are sold.

talk 3

jee,
gaddi ekdum barabar chal rahi hai!!
especially if u start with the fact that u dont know where u r going!!
:-)
so keep on building connections.. thats what creativity is all about!
btw, aap aur hum romanticise nahi karenge to kaun karega?? i liked the idea of product manupulating u !!
sahi template hai!!
well, lemme think of such products ....
hey ali, ye achha approach hai..i guess we have discussed this before....
ke we'll think of a few products which has something in common and then strike upon some generalisation/template and then try filling the basket with moer of such products...
lets make it one of our official ieation methodology !!
so, umm... product manipulating user...
i was thinking of a cutter to cut the orange skin to peel it afterwards...some such product i just saw somewhere... to i was thinling ke by sensing the fruit ripeness, skin thickness, etc, the product exerts pressure on our hand.. and we manupulate the force...
dont know whether it fits ur idea of dancing though... anyways...mightaswell share !! :-)
...
boxing ka bag... it hits u back !
i liked the idea of dance being half controlled by ur parner...
in that way it can also overlap slightly with our template of product shared by 2 ppl.
...
well, will think abt it later....
tell me abt ur product categories... coz i also keep categorising things...under templates...
arre, i had another concept lately >
sharing a virtual environment...
u share physical things...with ur family, loved ones.. friends...
u share the space, the utensils, the clothes sometimes...books, a dinner ,.....
u share the room with ur roomei. u arrange things in the room...
u go to work.. come back... ur partner has changed the arrangement....
anything... flowers in the vase, furniture, pin-up board cuttings...
and after seeing the new arrangement of these things...u know that 'he' or 'she' has done it...sometimes u like it if u like the person u share things with...
so what if u people are apart in space...
what if u live in ahmedabad and ur girlfriend is in amsterdam(!! idea bura nahi hai na?? !)
what if u can still share??
u have a website where there are virtual things...
furniture, calender, theis- that...u can buy these virtual things from the virtual stores...
liek a 3d model of verner pantone chair jasper morrisons ply chair...and u share these thingks (!if u please !) with ur girlfriend...
she comes after work,
starts her comp, logs on...
and wow!
u have gifted her ur latest ceramic plate for 2 !!
its arranged on the table....
she's overwhelmed!!
kaisa hai idea??
thoda jyada dramatic huva shayad, but still..
sharing ur desktop also is so interesting idea man!
products in this category can be>
flower arrangement,
tv settings/fridge setting etc...
aur add kar...
abbe, abhijeet, abhi ek idea aya...
whudn't it be gr8 if we can have a space. on which we can place things just like in corel...
but it'll be on the net and we can both access and upload it simultaneously...
to if we are discussing this concept...
immediately u can place text/images from ur comp to this space....
and it reamians there.. on the web...like a blog!! but in 2d- or why not in 3d also !!
u keep placing 3d models... of concepts...
hey, sahi concept hai man!!
i'll look to see if somethinglike that exixts...
corel ke sath baat karna padega....
a new kind of sharing environment for creative professionals...
this can bridge the barrier of space at least....
kya bolta hai??
driver, co-driver...thoda handle ki jiye situationko !!
btw, ali sahub,
we have decided to use do poet for all this stuff !!
and still we are using the mails!!
i'm uploading all this conversation on our blog...
theek hai??
and for such kinda discussions, blog is good, coz we can see the previous entries...
what say??
chal then
bye

talk 2

i liked the idea where material becomes the product.
i have been working on developing 'categories' of products, myself.
kaafi din se kar raha hun, i dont know if i have shared it with u.
owing to our style i started at a very general level. trying to define the
'material' environment.
i'll write about it in detail.

anyways, aajkal mein toda romantic ho raha hun.so, i suddenly hit upon
this aspect of man-product interaction. where you 'DANCE WITH YOUR
PRODUCT'
i was thinking about my spray gun, when this thought came upon.
u c when you spray with the gun and move your hand in line, spraying. the
wieght of the paint due to inertia creates a SWAY in the movement. which
is an added force acting on u. but that help you develop a tempo, and
generates a rythmn in your work. you also have less 'overspray'.

u c how the product manipulates you. its just like dancing. where the
partner is half responsible for your movements.
this happens in lots of other products also.
what do you think about this. let me know.
i may be blindly romanticizing so u can give critical feedback also.
a good co-driver is the one who wakes up his fellow driver if he falls
asleep.

bye,
abhijeet.

hey!
nice punch at the end han!
sahi hai!!

abbe, kaal kafi miss kiya tuze...
i'd a blossom of ideas in my mind y'day....

products where only the material itself is functional
because of its various (magnetic, optical, flammable,
metlable, edible,etc.)propoerties.so we can play
around with the form, .. its kind of a divorce of the
form from its function....achha template laga...
products under this template can be>
pill, tablet, chocolate, candle,sponge... etc...

kuchh soch...

i was also thinking of
materialistic consumption and intellectual one....
intellectual show off...intellectual poverty...
intelectually rich but materialistically poor
people...
cost of intellectulaity....
design/ /production/distribution/consumption of
intellectual products....interchangability of these
two consumptions....etc, etc...
dekh kuchh connection milta hai kya....

another thought was a person having multiple jobs
smultaneously...interpret...

arre, s(h)it! forgot abt the chair without sit....

well, another nice name for the chocolate can be...
"sow sweet" !! :-)

scripts likha raha hai??
gr8!
kuchh bhejta ja na....good for stimulation....

chal...
i've mailed u hajjar mails...
i want reply to each one!!
:-(

hey, btw, dopoet dekha kya??
sahi na??
